official fees to be

Registration Validity: 10 years, renewable for other consecutive
periods, each of
which is 10 years.
Renewal Time: Application for Renewal should be submitted
during the last year
of the protection
period. There is 6
months grace-period
for late renewal
upon payment of
lateness fine.
Procedure:
Once the application
is filed, it is
queued to be
examined as to
trademark
registrability.
Accepted
applications are
forwarded to the
Israel-Boycott
Department to clear
the applicant
company name. In
case of the
first-time applicant
who has no prior
clearing approval
and prior
registration, a
boycott declaration
is requested from
the applicant. Once
the clearing
approval is
obtained, the
application
progresses to
registration
according to the
Registrar’s
decision. Upon
registration the
trademark is
published in the
Official Gazette.
There is no grace
period for third
party opposition.
Requirements:
Trademark/Service Mark Applications
1- Power of
Attorney, notarized.
2- 10 prints of the
trademark.
4- Certified copy of
home registration.
In absences of home
registration foreign
one will do if
accompanied with
undertaking from the
applicant that the
there is no home
registration.
5- Certified copy of priority document, if priority is to
be claimed. (should
be submitted to
Trademark Department
within 3 months as
of filing the
application)
* Separate Power of Attorney is required for each
application.
However, one Power
of Attorney would be
sufficient for
filing several
application at the
same time for the
same applicant.
* Applications filed in class 3 for soaps/detergents or
in class 5 for
pharmaceutical
products need to be
accompanied with
certificate of
origin from Ministry
of Health, Chamber
of Commerce or any
competent authority
in the applicant’s
country. This
document should be
legalized up to the
Consulate of Syria.

* Applications filed
for pharmaceutical
preparations should
be also accompanied
with list of main
ingredients of the
products the
trademark is to be
registered for. The
list should be typed
on the Applicant's
letterhead.

Renewal of Trademark/Service Mark
Registrations
1- Power of
Attorney, notarized.
2- Explanation of any modifications on the subject Syrian
registration,
including the change
of name or address
or in the mark's
title etc...., along
with mentioning the
number and date of
the relevant
certificate issued
by the Proprietary
Protection
Department (PPD) in
Syria.
3- Copy of the Certificate of Registration.
Assignment Applications
1- Power of Attorney
from the Assignee,
notarized.
2- Deed of Assignment, signed by both parties, notarized
and legalized up to
the Consulate of
Syria.
Change of Name/Address Applications
1- Power of Attorney in the new name/address, notarized.
2- Certificate of change of name /address, duly legalized
up to the Consulate
of Syria.
License Applications
1- Power of Attorney
from Licensee
notarized.
2- License agreement
duly signed by both
parties and
legalized up to the
Consulate of Syria.
This agreement
should include the
name of both
parties, licensed
trademark (s), its
number and date,
duration of the
license, date of
commencement and its
termination.
